A woman has been jailed for eight weeks after cancelling her brother’s wedding.
Ann Duffy, 50, was issued an indefinite restraining order after admitting harassing her future sister-in-law, with prosecutors describing her actions as from an Eastenders plotline.
Duffy impersonated her now sister-in-law on the phone to Plymouth Register Office and told them to cancel the wedding on 5th November, just three weeks before the wedding was due to have taken place.
She then told her brother that she had saved him from a divorce, in what was described by Magistrate Graham Price as a “cruel and vindictive act”.
Her brother was able to reinstate the wedding on the chosen day after her actions came to light.
