A four-year-old cross between a beagle, a boxer, and a basset hound has won the title of world’s ugliest dog at a contest held in Petaluma, north of San Francisco.
The dog, named Walle by owner Ms Barbee, especially impressed judges with his bizarre waddle of a walk, big head, and duck feet, with one judge Brian Sobel commenting:
“This dog looked like he’s been photo-shopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals.”
No matter what other people think, however, Ms Barbee still loves him, saying:
“People come up to me and say that dog is not right – but I love him.”
Walle wins $1,500 and will make a number of appearences on television over the coming weeks, becoming somewhat of a canine celebrity.
