Passengers across the UK have been left stranded with hundreds of flights cancelled or suspended after a massive computer failure at the UK’s air traffic control centre.

Nats said that the system has now been restored, but that “it will take time for operations across the UK to fully recover”.

Passengers are recommended to contact their airline for the up-to-date status of their flight.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the “technical failure”, but Nats has stated that “contrary to some reports, it was not due to a power outage”.

The incident comes a year after a serious glitch at the Hampshire air traffic control room caused widespread disruption.
