UKIP’s website has been redirecting to a holding page for domain registrars 123-reg for hours after an “overnight technical problem”, which has yet to be fully rectified.

Indie record label Alcopop! attempted to purchase the UKIP.org domain through GoDaddy, with label owner Jack publishing a screenshot of the purchase to social media.

However, it appears that either the purchase did not go through or GoDaddy has given the domain back to UKIP, as Jack said on Facebook:

“Sorry guys – the internet has let us down. This morning we legitimately purchased the UKIP website for £200. However, Go Daddy seem to have given it back to them (no sign of a refund yet). Genuinely gutted. We’ll be back Farage….”

Some people are reporting that the site has begun appearing again, but DNS issues can take up to 24 hours to resolve, so many will not be able to access the site again for hours to come.
