Conservative MP Nigel Mills has apologised after being caught playing a popular game on his iPad during a committee hearing in the House of Commons.

Photographs of the Derbyshire playing Candy Crush Saga on his iPad during a Pensions Committee session on pensions were published by the Sun newspaper.

The MP for Amber Valley is said to have played the notoriously addictive mobile game over a period of two and a half hours during the session as MPs took evidence on pension reform.

Apologising on Twitter, Mills said:

“I apologise unreservedly for my behaviour at the committee meeting and realise it fell short of what is expected of a Member of Parliament.

I guarantee it will not happen again. It is a fantastic privilege to represent Amber Valley, and I hope constituents will continue to support my campaigns such as lower taxes for hard-working people.”
