The terrifying moment that the parachute of Spanish television chef Dario Barrio failed to open and he plunged to his death in a base jumping accident has been captured on video.

The footage shows two skydivers gliding through the air with their parachutes, but Barrio is shown hurtling towards the ground wearing just a wingsuit, going out of shot over a ridge shortly before impact.

Paramedics were called to the scene in the village of Segura de la Sierra near Andalucia, but Barrio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barrio’s base jump was part of the International Air Festival, with his horrifying crash seen by crowds of people on the ground.
