Florida will become home to the world’s tallest roller coaster in 2016, with US Thrill Rides bringing a 158.5m ride to a mystery location in the sunshine state.
An official announcement is due in a few weeks with more details according to US Thrill Rides president Michael Kitchen, but the Polercoaster will be a tower reaching 158.5m into the sky with just a 46m diameter footprint.
At the top of the tower will not just be the entrance to the roller coaster, but also offer a restaurant and observation deck with 360 degree views.
Riders will board eight-passenger cars at ground level, which will wind their way to the top of the sgructure in a cork-screw pattern, with the way down gone in a flash of 96.5km/h (60mph) speeds with sharp dives, rolls, and loops.
Development work is due to begin on the ride in mid-2014, with the ride opening for passengers by spring 2016.
