The Royal Norwegian Navy made use of the decommissioned KNM Trondheim, a 300ft long frigate, as target practice for a new “Naval Strike Missile”, a four metre long 400kg long-range stealth missile.
The subsonic missile from Scandinavian defence firm Kongsberg has a range of 150km and a 125kg payload, and can be seen causing great damage to the Trondheim, which had been towed out to sea off the coast of Andoy. Kongsberg is also developing a new Joint Strike Missile for the Lockheed Martin F-35 jets used by the UK’s Royal Air Force.
