A man in Bosnia and Herzegovina is demanding compensation from a hospital after surgeons left a pair of scissors in his stomach during an operation.
Alen Papac, 38, has faced continual health complications after he went in for an operation to remove a stomach ulcer in 2003 at University Clinical Hospital Mostar.
Papac’s stomach pain became so unbearable that he finally decided to return to hospital and that is when doctors saw the 12cm pair of scissors in his stomach in an X-ray.
Papac underwent an operation to have the scissors removed, and has now demanded compensation for the nine years of pain and health issues he has faced.
