An Air Force Sergeant managed managed to bend a car door with his bare hands to rescue a man trapped inside a burning car in Minnesota, US.

At around 18:30 on Sunday, Air Fore First Sergeant Bob Renning, 52, saw an SUV on fire out of his back window on Interstate 35W in New Brighton. Renning tried to get the attention of Michael Johannes, the driver of the fiery SUV, but by the time he noticed and pulled over onto the hard shoulder, he was trapped.

Renning rushed to help as his girlfriend called 911, but found the doors to be locked. However, in the heat of the moment the good Samaritan managed to grab the top of the car door and “bend it in half”, shattering the glass. This enabled him to drag Michael Johannes through the window, saving his life.

Astonished with this feat of “superhuman strength”, Minnesota State Trooper Zachary Hill told the Star Tribune:

“He bent the door in half. I don’t think I could take a crowbar and fold the door like he did”
