A huge rat that appeared in the kitchen of a family home in Stockholm has made headlines around the world, where it has been dubbed “Ratzilla”.
The rat, which measured 40cm plus tail and weighed 1kg, managed to gain access to the kitchen through a ventilation pipe after gnawing through wood and cement.
Once inside, it setup home behind the dishwasher, before venturing out the rummage in the kitchen bin, scaring away the family’s cat.
The Korsas family set up an industrial-sized rat-trap to catch the animal, with most of the family refusing to enter the kitchen while the cat was in residence.
Finally the rat took the bait, and got caught in the trap, but even that was not enough to kill it, with the father having to come home to finish the job.
