A Bible in a a bus driver’s top pocket saved his life by stopping two bullets in Dayton, Ohio in the US.
Bus driver Rickey Waggoner, 49, had stopped his bus on the side of the road due to engine trouble when he was attacked by a gang of youths who shot him twice in the chest in, with the Bible luckily preventing any penetration, and once in the hip.
Waggoner described the feeling of being “hit with a sledgehammer” as the bullets struck his chest, but the New Testament Bible acted like a bullet-proof vest and saved his life.
Waggoner was then able to wrestle the gun from the youths and fire back, causing the gang to scatter and disappear before the police arrived.
Authorities believe that the shooting may have been a gang initiation and are still looking for the suspects.
