A Scottish man is recovering in hospital after being savaged by a 12-foot crocodile whilst playing golf in a Mexican resort.
Dougie Thompson, 58, reportedly needed 200 stitches after the large reptile jumped from nearby undergrowth to attack him whilst he was trying to hit a ball out of a bunker.
The animal only released him from its grip after friends rushed to his aid and repeatedly beat the crocodile with golf clubs. Its jaws ripped through muscle in his though and hip.
The group were on holiday in Cancun for a friend’s wedding, but Thompson is now preparing to be flown home to Canada to receive further treatment.
