A husband has been charged with killing his wife in a car crash while driving home drunk on their wedding day in Georgia, US.

Ryan Quinton, 28, has been charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and vehicular homicide after the crash on 29 December last year tragically ruined what should have been the happiest day in his life.

Georgia State Police said that Quinton’s blood-alcohol level was 0.114, one and a half times the legal limit of 0.08, when swerved to miss a stray dog in the road and lost control of the Pontiac Firebird. Kali Dobson, 25, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car, before it rolled on top of her, crushing her to death.

According to Channel 2, Quenton reportedly ran to the road to flag down help after the crash, but his new wife was already dead.

Quinton has been released from jail on a $25,000 bond.
