St. James’ Palace has announced that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby, with the Royal family and the Middletons reportedly delighted with the news. The child will be the third in line to the British throne behind Prince Charles and Prince William.

The Duchess is thought to be is thought to be less than 12 weeks pregnant, but the announcement was made as she has been admitted to King Edward VII hospital, London with acute morning sickness, and is likely to stay for several days. She is believed to be suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients and can have serious consequences

In a statement, St James’ Palace said:

Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.
