UK authorities are aiding the FBI in their search for potential victims of a convicted paedophile who taught at 10 schools around the globe, including one in London.

William Vahey, 64, worked for four years as a history teacher at the private London Southbank International School, which was primarily attended by the children of American diplomats and military personnel.

The FBI have said that his victims were likely to have been between the ages of 12 and 14 at the time of the abuse. However, those affected may not know that they were abused as Vahey admitted to drugging boys with sleeping pills before molesting them.

Vahey committed suicide in March after a USB memory stick containing graphic images of at least 90 children was found by a colleague at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, Nicaragua, his final teaching post. When he was confronted by a school administrator, Vahey claimed to have been molested as a child and admitted to have preyed on young boys his entire life, and drugging his victims.

FBI special agent Patrick Fransen said:

“I’m concerned that he may have preyed on many other students prior to 2008. I’ve never seen another case where an individual may have molested this many children over such a long period of time.”

The FBI are currently attempting to identify and notify the photographed victims, but have urged anyone who believes that they may have been abused by Vahey to come forward. A confidential questionnaire is available to anyone who thinks they may have been a victim or believes they could have information about his predatory behaviour.
