A dog was the cause of delays on a busy stretch of motorway in Scotland earlier today, after a dog ‘drove’ a tractor onto the road.

Shortly after 08:30 on Wednesday morning, Traffic Scotland reported that the delays around Junction 13 on the M74 (North) were due to a dog taking control of a tractor.

A dog had apparently “leaned” on the controls of the tractor, and taken it off course and onto the motorway, where it proceeded to drive the heavy vehicle onto the central reservation at Abington services.

Trying to keep a straight face, Traffic Scotland tweeted:

“J13-RTC due to dog taking control of tractor… nope, not joking. Farmer&police at scene, vehicle in central res. #maycausetailbacks”

The scene was cleared in around 20 minutes, and the adventurous dog was unharmed in the incident.

Traffic Scotland tweeted:

“Route is CLEAR from earlier incident & dog is fine. Has to be the weirdest thing we have ever reported! No delays in area”
