More than a dozen people have been seriously injured in a crash between a lorry and a bus on the A47 in Cambridgeshire.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a “major incident” at Thorney Road, Guyhirn, following reports of a collision between a double-decker bus and an HGV at 07:30 BST on Tuesday morning.
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) immediately dispatched seven ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and a Magpas Air Ambulance to the scene, where they treated several injured patients, and have conveyed 16 to Peterborough City Hospital and Queen Elizabeth hospitals.
Cambridgeshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the collision to call 101.
Highways England have closed the A47 in both directions between the B198 and A141 near Wisbech and warned motorists to avoid the area.
