Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will once again host the Golden Globe awards this year, where stars from the worlds of television and film will come together to celebrate some of the best shows and movies of the last 12 months.

This year, with a number of British actors, actresses, and films nominated for the awards, a British invasion of Hollywood continues unabated.

British films “The Theory of Everything” and “The Imitation Game” are both in with a chance of winning the Best Motion Picture (Drama) award, and with them come nominations for stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) and Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), with Keira Knightley also a serious contender for winning the prize for best supporting role.

David Oyelowo was nominated for his role in “Selma” and Rosamund Pike for her performance in “Gone Girl“, while Helen Mirren is favourite to win the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for her role in “The Hundred-Foot Journey“, with Emily Blunt also up for the award for “Into the Woods“.

Ralph Fiennes was tipped for his role in the “The Grand Budapest Hotel“, and heart-warming British comedy “Pride” received a nomination for Best Picture (Comedy or Musical).

While British television has had some notable highlights over the past 12 months including The Honourable Woman and the second series of Peaky Blinders, Ricky Gervais was the only Briton nominated for a Golden Globe for the second series of “Derek“, for which he is up for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical).
