The former world’s heaviest man, who once weighed 560kg, has died at the age of 48.

Manuel Uribe had been confined to his bed in Monterrey in north-eastern Mexico for a number of years, unable to walk, but had slimmed down from a peak in 2006 to 194kg at the time of his death.

On 2 May, Uribe had to be transported by crane to hospital after he was found to have an abnormal heartbeat, according to El Mundo de Tehuacan.
