The world’s largest collection of video games has gone on sale in an online auction.

Michael Thomasson, 43, who won the title of owning the most games in the world in 2012, has listed over 11,000 games on the auction site Game Gavel.

He has listed the games for sale due to an immediate need from family and extended family, but regrets having to part with his collection.

The bids started at just $1, but have already reached $50,000 (£30,000), and Thomasson believes the collection to be worth around $750,000 (£450,000).

The collection includes titles for: Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, NES, SNES, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Atari 2600/VCS, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, GameCube, PSP, Genesis/MegaDrive, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, 3DO, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Sony Playstation 3, Commodore 64, Commodore 64/128, Commodore Vic-20, and many other platforms.
