European and Egyptian archaeologists have unveiled two colossal statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III in Luxor, Egypt.
The statues were uncovered in the funerary temple of Amenhotep III on the west bank of the Nile, where tourists have long visited to see the Colossi of Memnon, two colossal pharaoh statues that date to around the 14th century BCE.
The statues were sculpted from red quartzite and depict the ruler sitting with his hands on his knees, with one of the monuments 11.5m tall and weighing 250 tonnes according to SBS.
