Conservative vice-chairman for business relation, Alan Lewis, has been arrested after allegations of rape that occurred more than 40 years ago.

Lewis, 75, was arrested after a woman claimed she was raped in the late 1960s, but has now been released on bail by Greater Manchester Police.

The Conservative party have refused to comment on the news, with a spokesperson saying:

“This is an ongoing police matter so we are not able to make any comments.”

Lewis owns the Crombie clothing chain and was appointed as vice-chairman of business by David Cameron in 2010.
