The government has found more than 3,000 regulations to amend or scrap in a bid to reduce the regulatory burden on small businesses.
Prime Minister David Cameron will tell a Federation of Small Businesses conference that 800 regulations have already been abolished or amended, and that pattern will continue, saying in his speech:
“We have trawled through thousands of pieces of regulation – from the serious to the ridiculous, and we will be scrapping or amending over 3,000 regulations – saving business well over £850 million every single year. That’s half a million pounds which will be saved for businesses every single day of the year.”
Some of the regulations targeted by the government include 80,000 pages of environmental guidance and over 1000 overlapping standards applying to new homes.
Cameron will also tell the conference that he will push the European Union (EU) to reduce bureaucracy for businesses across the continent.
