The National Health Action Party (NHA) have emerged to fight for MEP seats in the London region to defend the NHS from privatisation as proposed by the coalition government.

As the group say on their website:

The only reason we had to form our own political party – and none of us want to be politicians – is that the political parties as they stand do not allow the voice of the people to be heard in the vital matter of the NHS and public health.

NHA’s major policy initiatives

  • Health – stop privatisation of NHS, improve NHS services with an action plan, and prioritise public health and wellbeing in all policy decisions
  • Economy – exempt the NHS from the EU/US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) “free trade” agreement, as it would make privatisation “irreversible”
  • Reform EU – make the EU democratically accountable to voters, with the public able to hold elected officials to account
  • Fairer society – Reject austerity and pay for social services and welfare by cracking down on corporate tax evasion and avoidance
  • Housing – improve social housing and prevent sell off of Land Registry

The NHA’s full European policy manifesto is available on their website.

The European Parliament elections take place on Thursday, 22 May
