UKIP leader Nigel Farage will take on Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in a live television and radio debates before the European elections in May.

The pair will discuss the merits of EU membership on 2 April in an hour-long live debate on BBC 2 hosted by David Dimbleby, and on LBC radio on 26 March.

When Clegg proposed the debate on LBC radio in February, Farage was quick to accept and ask whether David Cameron and Ed Miliband would join the debates, but neither have shown any enthusiasm to join in.

No matter the outcomes of the debates, the big winner is likely to be Farage and UKIP, as the a national televised debate will offer UKIP exposure and legitimacy, following up recent gains that have seen them push the Lib Dems into fourth party position.
