Nigel Farage was chased out of a pub by protesters on Sunday, in what some witnesses described as “harassment”.
The UKIP leader was preparing to eat lunch with his family at the Queen’s Head pub in Downe, Orpington, when protesters dressed in fancy dress rushed into the building singing along to We Are Family by Sister Sledge.
Farage’s wife Kirsten, and daughters Victoria, 15, and Isabelle, 10, are reported to have quickly left the building by the back door in order to avoid a confrontation.
The pub owner asked the protesters to leave, but the protesters continued to chant and dance until Farage left the pub. They are then reported to have chased Farage down the road, with others jumping on the bonnet of his car.
Farage later branded the protesters “scum” for invading his family life.
He said:
“I hope these demonstrators are proud of themselves…These people are scum.”
The protest was organised by HIV activist Dan Glass, who has previously taken issue with Farage’s proposal for a blanked ban on people with HIV entering the UK.
