A man’s terrifying elevator ride, where he is shot up 31 floors into the roof in just 15 seconds has been captured on CCTV video.

According to BioBioChile, the video shows José Vergara Acevedo, 31, entering the lift on the first floor of Tower B at Bustamante Park in Providencia, Chile, and pressing the number of his floor.

The lift then very quickly starts to accelerate up the building, with the doors then open showing the floors racing by and increasingly panicked Acevedo hitting all the buttons in an attempt to get bring the elevator to a stop. However, the lift only stops when it crashes through the ceiling at around 80km/h, leaving Acevedo with serious head and leg injuries.
