The Satanic Temple ruffled a few feathers earlier this year when they proposed the installation of a satanic monument to be positioned in the grounds of the Oklahoma Capitol next to a monument of the ten commandments.

Oklahoma has put a temporary moratorium on any new monuments being positioned on the grounds of the courthouse as there is an ongoing court case between the state and the ACLU over the Christian monument of the ten commandments given prominence on government property.

However, the Satanic Temple have still decided to go ahead and start building their Baphomet, and say that either the Christian monument should be removed or theirs should have equal prominence, and VICE have the photos of the imposing cast.

According to the VICE article:

The statue is a direct response to the state’s installation of a Ten Commandments monument outside the Capitol in 2012. State Representative Mike Ritze paid for the controversial statue with his own money, and therefore it was considered a donation and OK to place on government property. Following that line of reasoning, the Satanic Temple submitted a formal application for their monument.
