Roger Federer has long cemented himself as one of the greatest tennis players and sportsmen ever, but sometimes winning points just comes down to dumb luck.

Federer was playing doubles with Nicolas Mahut against Jeremy Chardy and Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International yesterday, when he found luck to be on his side. Whilst retreating to smash an overhead return, Federer struck the ball with the frame of the racket sending it high into the air and then landing just over the net, before spinning back onto Federer’s side of the court, out of the reach of his opponent – a really lucky Irish dropshot.

The trickshot instantly became a favourite with the fans watching courtside and on TV, and the clip of the shot has been viewed more than 450,000 times since it was posted on Wednesday at the time of writing.
