Outspoken television host Piers Morgan has tweeted a picture of his broken rib, after his clash with former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee in the nets.

Morgan made a lot of claims of twitter and in other public forums about his cricketing abilities, and challenged Lee to the showdown.

In the nets at Melbourne Cricket Ground during the third day of the fourth Ashes test, Morgan faced one over from Lee, with the disgraced newspaper editor failing to hit a single ball with his bat and ending up as a crumpled heap on the floor after being peppered by Lee.

Whilst most of the balls left just bruises, one delivery fractured one of Morgan’s ribs, with the CNN presenter posting a picture of his X-ray on Twitter.

Many reacted with amusement to Morgan’s battering in the nets, with former Australian spinner Shane Warne impressed by his bravery. However, former New Zealand cricket star Richard Hadlee was less impressed with their entire episode, describing the stunt as “dangerous and unnecessary”.

  1. It could not have happened to a bigger a-hole. I have never liked this pompus twat. I am surprised the british public like him, after allowing the daily mirror to publish THOSE fake pictures of British soldiers apparently urinating on the Iraqi soldiers. Would have been even funnier if 1 of the balls had cracked him in the facer and given him a shiner…. hahahaha heres to hoping next time!
