A video has emerged of a lightning bolt striking the Shard during a storm in central London.

A number of bolts of lightning struck the 87-storey skyscraper during a short storm on Thursday, which brought with it heavy rains and thunder, with Kirill Dementev managing to capture on the strikes on video.

At 306m-tall, the Shard became the tallest building in western Europe when it was opened in February 2013 at a cost of £435 million
