Britain’s first cloned dog, born from a test tube at a cost of £60,000, will be revealed by a Channel 4 documentary this evening.

A few months ago there was a competition to win £60,000 to have your pet dog cloned, and winner Rebecca Smith, 29, chose to clone her 12-year-old dachshund Winnie.

Now, the clone of Winnie has been born in the labs of Sooam Biotech in Seoul, South Korea, weighing 454g, with Smith naming it “Minnie Winnie”.

Although Sooam Biotech have cloned over 500 pet dogs in the past, they believe that Minni Winnie is the first clone produced of a British dog.

The £60,000 Puppy: Cloning Man’s Best Friend will be broadcast tonight at 22:00 BST on Channel 4.
