A huge sinkhole has opened up in Tennessee, swallowing up a large section of an American football stadium.
A small 1×1.5m sinkhole was first spotted in the corner of the 10,000-seat Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium by construction workers who were replacing the stadium’s main building.
However, the workers had to dig it out to 12m in order to find the bedrock, so that the construction crew can fill in the hole with rock and concrete.
The sinkhole is the result of years of underground rain water eating away at the limestone beneath the stadium, with Austin Peay State University famous for its sinkholes.
