A giant vending machine, selling all essentials from eggs to shampoo, has been opened in the village of Clifton in Derbyshire.

The machine sells 80 products including milk, cereal, shower gel, washing powder, toothpaste, bread, soup, tea, and coffee, and replaces a village shop that closed down ten years ago when its owners retired and could not find anyone to take over.

With an exterior constructed out of red bricks, the machine sits in the car park of the local pub, the Cock Inn, and has already been a great success, as villagers can buy goods when they need them 24 hours a day.

Designed by local electrical engineer Peter Fox, the vending machine accepts cash and cards, monitors stock levels, and has security cameras.
