A baby sloth has been born at London Zoo to the surprise of zoo-keepers who did not know the two parents had such a close relationship.

Sloths can take up to a decade to get to know each other before they reproduce, and Marilyn and Leander had showed few signs of their intimate relationship in public. However, in private they were obviously keeping getting much closer.

The child is currently still clinging to the mother, so vets have not yet been able to determine its gender.
