A Canadian woman has lived up to the country’s reputation by returning a winning $50 million lottery ticket she found to its rightful owners in Toronto.

Hakeem and Max Nosiru bought the winning ticket in January, but when the results were announced they were panicked to find that they had lost their $50 million ticket.

Months passed without any news of the ticket and the couple had nearly gven up hope they could ever claim their winnings, but on 1 April they got a phone call from a member of their church parish saying she had found it, according to the Toronto Sun.

An investigation by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and police ensued, but the ticket was soon found to be the property of the Nosirus, and they could claim their winnings.
