At least two people have been killed and twenty injured after a gas leak sparked a massive explosion in East Harlem, New York, levelled two buildings.
The explosion occurred at around 09:30 local time (13:30 GMT), about 15 minutes after a nearby resident reported the smell of gas, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a press conference on Wednesday morning.
More than 250 firefighters attended the scene near 116th Street and Park Avenue.
Medical masks are being handed out to nearby residents due to the thick white smoke from the fires according to the BBC.
All train services to and from New York’s Grand Central Station have been halted with the incident near its tracks.
