The home invasion of an Arizona woman’s home was foiled by online gamers who watched the robbery unfold on the woman’s livestream and alerted police.
The 28-year-old victim was playing Defense of the Ancients 2 with a live video feed from her webcam, when two armed men kick down the door much to the shock of the woman and those playing with her online.
Her gaming friends saw the events unfolding at the house and alerted police, who found one suspect, Edgardo Martinez, 27, still at the scene when they arrived. He is currently being held on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, first-degree burglary, theft of a firearm and credit card theft.
Lieutenant Michael Pooley of Tempe Police said:
“There were several callers from around the world, who were trying to find out who this victim was and they were watching this whole thing occur, while she was being assaulted and the home invasion was occurring.”
“These people calling in is what really saved them.”
The victim and her 29-year-old roommate were not injured in the invasion, but the second suspect remains at large.
