Whilst speaking at a private $50,000 a plate dinner event held at the home of private equity manager Marc Leder in Boca Raton, Florida, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was asked how to solve the “Palestinian problem”, with his response secretly caught on a video published Mother Jones.
Romney described the Palestinians as having:
“no interest whatsoever in establishing peace, and that the pathway to peace is almost unthinkable to accomplish.”
He later went on to say:
“I look at the Palestinians not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say there’s just no way.”
He did not provide any answers as to how he would address the issue as president, however, instead hoping to just postpone any escalation saying:
“This is going to remain an unsolved problem…and we kick the ball down the field and hope that ultimately, somehow, something will happen and resolve it.”
