A Cincinnati man who accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old daughter when firing into the air during an argument with his girlfriend, has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Deandre Kelley, 34, was drunk and arguing with his long-term girlfriend on 12 January when he fired two shots into the air. In a tragic accident, one of the bullets struck and killed his daughter Shanti Lanza, who had been hiding from the argument upstairs at their home, according to CBS.

Deandre Kelley pleaded guilty to reckless homicide at Hamilton County Court, and was sentenced to six years in jail.
