A video has emerged online of street of parked cars collapsing, sending the vehicles crashing down a steep embankment onto a railway.

On Wednesday afternoon, home-owners in the Charles Village neighbourhood in Baltimore were out on the street taking photographs of cars having slipped a little from the street in what was believed to be a sinkhole caused by the recent heavy rains.

However, the chatter of curiosity soon turned to screams as they saw the edge of the street completely collapse, sending a row of cars and a streetlight crashing onto a railway below.

No-one was injured in the landslide, but homes have been evacuated as emergency work is performed, with residents unable to return home for up to 40 days, according to officials.
