Hollywood actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has recorded a video message of support for the protesters in Ukraine.

In the short video clip, Schwarzenegger says:

“I was to send a message to the people of the Ukraine and let them know that I wish them all the best of luck in their peaceful struggle for democracy and freedom”

He then signs off by saying “peace” and giving the “V” sign.

The video was shared by former heavy-weight boxing champion turned opposition leader Vitali Klitschko on his YouTube channel and quickly went viral with over a million views in just two days.

At least four people are believed to have died in the ongoing unrest in Ukraine as protesters clashed with police officers armed with rubber bullets. The demonstrators are protesting against the government’s political decision not to strengthen its ties with the European Union and ideas of Western democracy, and instead turn towards Russia.

Embattled President Viktor Yanukovych recently offered Klitschko the position of deputy prime minister to try and stabilise the country.
