The Italian Olympic Commitee has announced that bobsledder William Frullani has been banned from the games for doping.
The international Olympic Committee informed Italy’s governing body, CONI, that Frullani tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance dimethylpentylamine, also known as methylhexanamine, in his A-sample test on 18th February. His backup B-sample was then tested and confirmed the firest result, which meant that Frullani was excluded from the Italian delegation.
Frullani has been replaced on the Italian four-man bobsled team with Samuele Romanini.
This announcement came only hours after the news that a German athlete’s A-sample tested positive for doping.
