The private images and videos of a number of celebrities have been leaked online, causing some to fear another celebrity hacking scandal on the scale of “the Fappening”.
In the past few days, a video of British boxer Amir Khan involved in so-called “Skype sex” with a model, as well as videos and images of Teen Wolf stars Tyler Posey and Cody Christian in various stages of undress have appeared online.
An insider close to Cody, 21, told Hollywood Life that he was “absolutely mortified, embarrassed and furious over the video leak” and that “he seriously can’t believe this has happened to him—he never in a million years thought he would fall victim to a betrayal like this, and he feels violated”.
These leaks follow the publication of stolen topless photographs of Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale in December.
In 2014, over 500 stolen private images from celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and Cat Deeley were leaked online to messageboards such as 4Chan and Reddit in an event known as “the Fappening“. A 36-year-old hacker called Ryan Collins was later convicted of hacking into the celebrity’s iCloud accounts and stealing their personal files to sell or leak online.
