Libyan prime minister Ali Zeidan has called for “calm” after being freed by the armed militiamen that had abducted him earlier today.
The Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room militia group said that they had arrested Zeidan on the orders of the prosecutor general, but this was denied by the justice ministry.
It remains unclear why Zeidan was abducted, but some Libyan militias were angered at the recent US operation to capture suspected al-Qaeda mastermind Anas al-Liby, and the Libyan government’s possible involvement in the action.
