Boxer Floyd Mayweather pleaded with his friend Earl Hayes to calm down, before witnessing him allegedly shoot dead his wife, actress Stephanie Moseley, before turning the gun on himself, according to TMZ.

The gossip site reports that Hayes called Mayweather over FaceTime in a rage because of his wife’s alleged infidelity and told him that he planned to kill her.

Mayweather pleaded with his friend to calm down, but to no avail. Mayweather is then believed to have been a witness to the killings, hearing the gunshots through the video chat.

Neighbours at the couple’s Los Angeles apartment complex reportedly called police around 07:30 after hearing multiple gunshots from inside the home.

The police heard further gunshots when they arrived at the scene, and officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) SWAT team discovered two victims inside the apartment suffering from gunshot wounds.

In a statement, the LAPD said:

“The initial investigation revealed that 34-year-old Earl Warren Hayes shot his wife, 30-year-old Stephanie Elyse Moseley to death and then took his own life.”
