Switzerland: Three wounded in shooting at Zurich Islamic centre

Three people have been injured in a gun attack in an Islamic centre in the Swiss city of Zurich.

Three men, aged 30, 35 and 56, were shot and wounded shortly before shortly before 17:30 (16:30 GMT) on Monday after a gunman opened fire on people praying within the mosque, which is located near to Zurich’s central train station.

The unidentified attacker fled the scene and was described by witnesses as wearing dark clothing and a dark wool cap.

Police said they have collected evidence from within and outside the mosque, but declined to comment on the possible motive behind the attack.

The mosque is often used by Zurich’s Somali community, with members of the centre identifying the three victims as of Somali origin.
