Five people have been injured, two seriously, in an attack by an unidentified man in the town of Schaffhausen on the border between Switzerland and Germany.

Police have sealed off the Old Town area of Schaffhausen in the wake the assault and a man-hunt is underway for the unknown chainsaw-wielding assailant.

The attack is not believed to be related to terrorism.

Two air ambulances were sent to the scene to air-lift those injured to hospital.
