Croatian authorities are transporting refugees that have entered the country to the Hungarian border, claiming that Croatia cannot become a “migrant hotspot”.
Authorities laid on more than a dozen buses to take the refugees to the border throughout the day, but Hungary says that they plan to extend their border fence to control the crossing.
Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said:
“Hungary has closed off its border with barbed wire. That’s not a solution, but these people remaining in Croatia is not a solution either.”
More than 14,000 refugees are believed to have entered Croatia in the last two days, after Croatia said it was ready to receive refugees fleeing Syria and direct them on to northern Europe earlier in the week.
Earlier, Croatia closed seven of its eight border crossings with Serbia to slow the influx of refugees over the border.
